Amerigo Vespucci, Discovering a New World
Amerigo Vespucci is one of the most important explorers of all time. He was a very skilled navigator and went on 2-4 voyages to Central and South America between 1497 and 1504. One of the places Amerigo landed was the country now known as Argentina, thus discovering a unknown part of the world to the Europeans. Vespucci was the first explorer to discover that these continents were not Asia, as previous explorers had believed, but actually parts of the "new world", and as a result both continents were named after him.
